Air services are gradually resuming this morning as airlines try to clear the backlog of passengers stranded by cancellations due to the ash cloud from a Chilean volcano.
Hundreds of travellers spent the night stranded at airports as flights around the country were disrupted for the second time in just over a week.
Delays were expected to continue well into today but the threat from the ash cloud appears to be easing faster than expected.
